Somborka

Somborka is a traditional Balkan hot pepper variety, renowned for its outstanding flavor and commonly used to make ‘soka,’ a lacto-fermented pickle.

It thrives particularly well in Kosovo, where optimal climate, soil, and dedicated cultivation practices result in exceptionally fruitful yields.

Description

Upward-facing fruits are around 100 g. Harvest when white in technical ripeness, red in botanical, from open fields or protected enclosures – earlier than all other hot semi-bell peppers. The crisp and juicy 4-6 mm-thick flesh of these conical peppers abounds with taste, so consume them fresh or preserve them. You will produce them easily because they are reliable yield-wise and give uniformly sized fruits. Those traits make Somborka a constant favorite with users like you for over 30 years.

About Superior Seeds
Superior Seeds Logo

Dr. Ivo Đinović founded Superior 1993 with the idea to work for science and write for the people. All these years, our research team lead by Dr. Đinović has been cross-breeding and selecting new varieties and hybrids with the traits demanded by the final consumer. The market always changes, new countries become new consumers, and we still carry over traditional Balkan taste through our varieties.

We combine different cultures and various tastes, sometimes we are even trend setters, because some markets never had a chance to use in their cuisine such vegetable. That’s why, our R&D team constantly follows contemporary trends such as disease resistance and transportability, and pack all that in distinctive taste of countryside and childhood.
